States shut out Sydney as Premier resists lockdown

States have thrown up their borders to NSW but the Prime Minister is backing NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian’s “common sense” rules to avoid a lockdown, after a birthday party in Sydney’s west sparked 10 more COVID-19 cases.

Sydneysiders will need to wear a mask in the office and have no more than five visitors to their home for at least a week, after the city’s outbreak grew to 38 local cases across a “school, a plane and a party”. Many businesses sent staff home after the Premier outlined the new rules.
