Businessman Ziggy Switkowski, who advised the Howard government on nuclear power, says the fuel source could play a role in reducing emissions and would deliver a positive return to taxpayers over the long term.

Dr Switkowski spoke to The Australian Financial Review as Opposition Leader Peter Dutton sought to defuse government attacks against his nuclear energy plan as being an uncosted fantasy designed to prolong inaction on climate change.
