As you crest the sand dunes along Perth's southern maritime strip, what has been dubbed Australia's biggest shed dominates the skyline on the edge of the Indian Ocean.

Construction engineering firm Civmec has almost completed the shed, which is 18 storeys high and has 53,000sq m of usable floor space, where it will begin building ships for the Australian navy mid-year.
