Scott Morrison wanted secret ministry for FIRB powers

Scott Morrison sought secret authority over the treasury portfolio in order to give himself final say on foreign investment proposals, undercutting his treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

Internal advice prepared by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in April 2021 shows the former prime minister wanted to be sworn in to control the Foreign Investment Review Board, part of six secret ministries.
