Foreign Investment Review Board chairman and former top intelligence official David Irvine has been remembered for his keen intellect and making Australia safer as an outstanding public servant, following his passing after battling illness.

Mr Irvine was regarded as one of the giants of the foreign policy, intelligence and national security community.
