Roundtable screams of Chalmers’ style, but where’s the substance?

The treasurer is pushing big ideas and expectations for his economic talkfest in August. The practical results are much less certain.

Jim Chalmers is highly sensitive to criticism – including from within Labor – that he is far too cautious to tackle major economic reform, particularly tax reform.

He insists his accumulation of smaller, incremental measures has actually added up to substantial policy change in Labor’s first term.
