Pork-barrelling in Coalition seats ‘worrying’: study

Coalition marginal seats received almost five times more taxpayer funding than Labor safe seats did under controversial government grant programs since 2013, according to a new analysis.

The analysis of seven programs, by the left-leaning Australia Institute, shows $2.8 billion – or 71 per cent – of funding went to Coalition marginal and safe seats. Labor seats received $903 million – 23 per cent – while seats held by crossbenchers received $232 million.
