Former international trade lawyer and political staffer Gisele Kapterian is an early front runner to contest the northern Sydney federal seat of Bradfield for the Liberal Party, following the shock resignation of senior Coalition frontbencher Paul Fletcher.

Mr Fletcher, who faced a second successive challenge from teal independent Nicolette Boele, surprised colleagues by announcing he will retire from politics at the next election, raising speculation his once-safe seat was in peril.
