Palmer set to challenge Albanese donation plans in court
Mining billionaire Clive Palmer says he will challenge a major political donations reform plan hammered out by Labor and the Coalition, warning of a Trump-style voter backlash looming for Anthony Albanese.
Labor designed its overhaul of election funding to be effectively Palmer-proof: anticipating a constitutional challenge in the High Court, the government set generous new caps for donations and spending by parties, carefully seeking not to curb political speech rights.
