NSW Coalition backs 50pc emission reduction by 2030
The NSW government has increased the state’s 2030 emissions reduction target from 35 per cent to 50 per cent over 2005 levels after a reappraisal of its technology-driven Net Zero Plan showed emissions would be reduced by far more than originally anticipated.
The plan and the revamped target has full support of the NSW Liberals and Nationals who form the state government. This is in contrast to the federal Coalition, where a section of the Nationals are fighting a push by Scott Morrison to formally adopt net zero emissions by 2050 as national policy.
