Coalition frontbencher Bridget McKenzie looks set to have to update public disclosures on flight upgrades within days, but insists that mining magnate Gina Rinehart was not seeking influence over Peter Dutton when she allowed him the use of her private jet for official travel.

Amid the growing saga over politicians’ travel perks, Senator McKenzie conceded that it was wrong to be so emphatic in attacking Prime Minister Anthony Albanese over his ties to Qantas when she might not have fully complied with the rules related to the disclosure of gifts and benefits.
