Labor will stare down opponents of plans to add accountants, lawyers and real estate agents to tough new anti-money laundering laws, warning any backwards step would aid terrorists and child abusers.

Amid sustained international pressure to rectify Australia’s laggard status on tough anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) laws, Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus will on Tuesday say the government would not accept more delays to close the financial backdoor to criminals.
