One of the great truths in pandemic politics is that voters have been happy to cop tough restrictions if they keep them safe. But as the rules of the pandemic change again due to a new strain of the virus, that may not last.

On Friday, more than two million Queenslanders were forced to change their weekend plans after a sudden lockdown was declared across greater Brisbane, joining many others around the country forced to wonder: how much individual freedom will they sacrifice for the greater good?
