NDIS spending blows out by $40b, set to overtake defence
Spending on the National Disability Insurance Scheme has blown out by $40 billion over the forward estimates, and costs are forecast to grow by almost 20 per cent over the next four years as the number of participants swells and their plans become more expensive.
Overall assistance to people with disabilities, which includes the disability pension, is expected to increase by 9.6 per cent in real terms between 2022-23 and 2025-26.
