Liberal frontbencher Paul Fletcher asked Qantas to stop upgrading his official travel to business class, preferring to fly economy on short flights as a cost-saving measure for taxpayers.
Mr Fletcher, the opposition spokesman for government services, is a former Optus executive. Since entering politics in 2009, he has adopted the company’s rules, requiring employees to purchase economy tickets for short-haul flights, for his own parliamentary travel.
