Kimberley Kitching’s husband has blamed a “cantankerous cabal” within Labor for undermining the late senator, telling a crowded funeral service his wife deserved better at the hands of colleagues in federal parliament and the union movement.
The Victorian senator – who died of a suspected heart attack on March 10, aged 52 – was remembered as a fearless political warrior who championed the oppressed and “did not believe in half measures”.
