Melbourne commuters face paying $1000 a year more for city parking and businesses will be forced to pay around $83,000 more tax for a typical city office, under changes to be included in Victoria’s state budget on Tuesday which employer groups warn further dampens the city’s economic recovery.
Melbourne is lagging other capital cities on office worker attendance rates and business groups including the Property Council of Australia and Parking Australia have held meetings with Victorian Treasurer Jaclyn Symes in recent days to present modelling and warn against the changes.
