The Australian Financial Review is to be congratulated for committing a significant section of its letters column to the proposed referendum on the Voice. Having read the latest bunch of letters critical of the proposal, it is apparent that, at least within the Financial Review readership, the nays significantly outnumber the yays.
The latest arguments against the Voice are essentially twofold. The first is that the Voice in its current configuration fails to deal with Indigenous disadvantage. The second is that it will increase inequality within the Indigenous community rather than unify it.
