Letters: IPCC shows safeguard mechanism isn’t enough

Mark Ludlow’ s article summarising the latest IPCC report on the need for stronger and immediate action on carbon emissions (“More urgent action needed to tackle global warming, says IPCC”, March 21) leaves one wondering why Labor is sticking with a safeguard mechanism that allows companies to continue on their polluting ways by using carbon offsets that don’t actually ensure a lowering of emissions.
