Labor unscathed but unrewarded for tax U-turn

The Albanese government has emerged unscathed but unrewarded from its broken promise on the stage three tax cuts, with next to no movement in its fortunes, the latest The Australian Financial Review/Freshwater Strategy poll shows.

While 84 per cent of taxpayers will receive more on July 1 than they otherwise would have under the original stage three tax cuts, the poll shows just one-third of voters feel they will be better off under the revamped cuts.
