Great Barrier Reef needs a bit more than lobbying: Albanese
Australia will continue lobbying, under an Albanese government, to avoid the Great Barrier Reef being listed as endangered, and Labor says it will seek political support to override the United Nations’ scientific advisers.
Last year, the Coalition launched a whirlwind diplomatic effort to convince countries to stop the reef from being added to UNESCO’s “in danger” list. The next meeting, falling after the May 21 federal election, looks set to have a similar push by Labor.
