Labor’s worst fears confirmed, Greens get another reality check
The Werribee byelection confirms what the major parties have long known – the bottom has fallen out of Labor’s vote in its traditional stronghold state of Victoria.
For argument’s sake, take the 10.4 per cent, two-party-preferred swing away from Labor in Saturday’s Werribee state byelection, and run it up the federal election pendulum.
If that swing were replicated in Victoria at the federal election, and it was uniform, Labor would lose about 11 seats.
