Rockhampton | Labor’s promise to spend more money to spur new local industries was key to “restore faith” with blue-collar Queenslanders who deserted the party in 2019 and are vital to lifting its standing in the critical state, Anthony Albanese says.

The prime minister said the Future Made in Australia Act, along with industrial relations changes, were, in part, about honouring a compact with blue-collar workers, especially those in an energy industry shifting away from coal.
