Federal Labor will again make electric vehicles a centrepiece of its re-election strategy by promising to cut import and other federal taxes to encourage their uptake.
Despite some states levying road user taxes on the cars and the Morrison government demonising Labor at the last election over its support for electric vehicles, Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese will announce a revamped policy that eschews its previous approach of setting targets for new car sales.
