Jim Chalmers will soon deliver his second budget as treasurer and it is absolutely critical he gets this one right.

Inflation has been too high for too long, eroding purchasing power and worsening the cost of living crisis. To do right by Australians, Labor must resist all its instincts and reduce expenditure. It will be a test of courage and credibility.
