Climate wonk and EY Port Jackson Partners director Blair Comley is set to return to the top ranks of the federal public service as Health Department secretary after the retirement of Professor Brendan Murphy next month.

Professor Murphy is scheduled to exit the public service on July 6 and an announcement on his replacement is expected shortly before, with Mr Comley currently the lead candidate, according to multiple sources.
