Recount to start in election’s closest run race

A recount of votes in the Sydney seat of Bradfield will start on Monday and it could be two weeks before the official outcome of what appears to be the tightest race of the federal election is known, with Liberal Gisele Kapterian just eight votes ahead of her teal rival.

The Australian Electoral Commission confirmed on Sunday it was also considering a request for a recount from the teal independent Zoe Daniel in the Melbourne seat of Goldstein, where she trails the Liberals’ Tim Wilson by 260 votes.
