‘Kissed on the arse by a rainbow’: Economist rubbishes WA’s GST claim
The WA treasurer’s claims that reducing the state’s generous GST payments would hurt mining investment were rubbished by a leading economist, who says the state government has done little to elicit its mining boom.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his cabinet arrive in Perth for a two-day visit on Monday, and Premier Roger Cook flagged the controversial GST distribution will be a focal point of discussions, along with the state’s problem-plagued nickel industry.
