When King Charles succeeded to the Throne he was reported as saying he knew very well he would have to change the ways he had become used to as Prince of Wales.
The matters about which he felt passionately, but could be construed as having a political edge – climate change, environmental protection and even architectural design – would now have to be matters solely for private conversation with his ministers, and not for public speeches.
