Foreign Minister Julie Bishop is actively considering the recall of ­Australia’s ambassador to Indonesia if planned executions of Bali Nine accused Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan proceed.

The death by firing squad of the two men appears imminent, with all legal avenues close to exhausted. But ­Indonesia watchers have counselled against a recall, arguing it would have little effect on President Joko Widodo.
