Japan continues to push Queensland over coal royalty slug
Japan is continuing to rail against the Queensland government’s surprise increase in coal royalties, despite Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Treasurer Cameron Dick meeting diplomats and Japanese businesses hit by the rise.
Japanese ambassador to Australia Shingo Yamagami said the royalty increase continued to rattle Japanese businesses, but added he had been heartened by assurances from the federal government over gas exports.
