Industry groups told to pay up for financial counselling service

The Albanese government has called time on negotiations with the finance, insurance, gambling and energy sectors and given them until the end of August to sign up to an industry-funded financial counselling service.

Social Services Minister Amanda Rishworth will tell a financial counselling summit on Wednesday that the new service, a recommendation of the Hayne royal commission into the banking and financial services industries, needed to be fully operational by January 1, 2024.
