Independents want three in four new cars to be electric by 2030
Encouraging the uptake of electric vehicles will be on the negotiating table for the winner of next month’s federal election, with Warringah MP Zali Steggall and high-profile independents calling for tax changes and new infrastructure investment.
Ms Steggall on Thursday joined North Sydney candidate Kylea Tink and Mackellar candidate Sophie Scamps to launch a plan to reduce transport emissions. By the end of the decade they want a minimum of 76 per cent of new cars sold to be electric.
