Population growth will be the missing piece of Australia’s economic recovery out of the coronavirus pandemic, with international borders likely to remain tightly sealed for the remainder of the year.

Population, one of the three “Ps” of economic growth – along with productivity and participation – accounted for about 40 per cent of the nation’s economic growth in recent years, according to economists.
