London | Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will set aside his republican views and take the oath of allegiance to King Charles at the coronation this Saturday, he confirmed on Wednesday (AEST).
He told British TalkTV journalist Piers Morgan that he wanted an Australian head of state appointed by parliament, but he did not want to rush a republic referendum and risk having his premiership consumed by “constitutional debates”.
