How Zali Steggall beat Tony Abbott
The new member for Warringah says her life is not about failure.
Zali Steggall’s moment of truth always occurred during the minute before competing in a major downhill ski event. “That’s the time when you’re alone with yourself. If you over-think, it’s going to be bad. I always found the most important thing to do was focus on the first three turns.”
That’s pretty much what the former world champion alpine skier and neophyte independent MP, who defeated former Liberal prime minister Tony Abbott in the May 18 federal election, is now doing. She’s focusing on her three post-election policy priorities: climate change, energy policy and truth in political advertising.
