Housing shortage sending 7700 women back to violent partners: study

As many as 7700 women are returning to violent partners every year in Australia because of an entrenched lack of available social housing, new research shows.

Ahead of this month’s national Women’s Safety Summit, new Equity Economics research shows only 3.2 per cent of women and children leaving domestic violence situations receive adequate long-term housing support, with more than 9000 becoming homeless each year.
