Labor scrambles for new laws after High Court ruling on detainees

The federal government is scrambling to rush legislation into parliament and draw up new regulations circumventing a High Court ruling that forcing immigration detainees to wear ankle bracelets and abide by curfews is unconstitutional.
The opposition labelled the court’s decision an “embarrassing loss” for the government and renewed its attacks that community safety had been put at risk.
