Hanson softens on union bill as Westpac comparison bites

Scott Morrison has stressed crooked bank executives could be jailed for 15 years under laws he introduced as treasurer as he sought to counter Labor's use of the Westpac scandal to defeat laws cracking down on unions.

But the strategy by Labor and the unions to invoke Westpac appeared to be working as Pauline Hanson, whose support is critical, indicated on Monday she may now not vote for the Ensuring Integrity Bill.
