Rio de Janeiro | Xi Jinping has demanded Australia loosen restrictions on Chinese foreign investment in return for increased two-way trade, as global leaders grapple with economic uncertainty stemming from Donald Trump’s election and face a deadlock over climate change action and Russia’s war on Ukraine.

The Chinese president used a meeting with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Brazil early on Tuesday AEDT to suggest that Chinese companies were still not receiving a fair deal despite an overall improvement in the bilateral relationship.
