Senior federal ministers are defending their investments after the opposition escalated accusations frontbenchers had potentially breached the ministerial code of conduct over shareholdings and managed funds.

But the government hit back during a fiery question time debate, rattling off a series of integrity matters that enmeshed ministers in the former Coalition government and claiming opposition frontbenchers could not meet the same standard.
