Government backs down on 'robodebt' scheme

The Morrison government has buckled to pressure and halted a key element of its automated debt collection process from welfare recipients known as "robodebt" ahead of fresh court challenges to its legality.
Government Services Minister Stuart Robert announced Centrelink would "refine" how it would assess whether a person had been overpaid welfare benefits but maintained it would only affect a small number of recipients.
