Jason Clare is dodging his responsibility as education minister by not using his powers to intervene in the controversial issue of university bosses holding second paid roles, opposition spokeswoman Sarah Henderson says.

Senator Henderson said Mr Clare had direct oversight and authority over the Australian National University, where the issue came to light, under federal legislation and could also instruct the national regulator to examine any concerns.
