The prospect of war between China and the United States has been “much exaggerated”, but Australian investors should still make provision to diversify into other markets, former foreign minister Gareth Evans says.

He has also urged investors to stay away from Israeli weapons company Elbit Systems, in response to the “alarmingly disproportionate character of the Israeli military response” to the October 7 terror attacks perpetrated by Iranian-backed Hamas militants.
