Victorian opposition police spokesman Brad Battin will stand against Liberal leader John Pesutto in a leadership spill on Friday as infighting within the party escalates following exiled MP Moira Deeming’s court win.

Ms Deeming successfully sued Mr Pesutto for defamation. Her win two weeks ago triggered a tied vote to readmit her to the party, with the opposition leader reportedly using his casting vote to block her return.
