Fee increase for retirees to cover extra $3.8b in aged care wages

The government will spend another $3.8 billion on aged care sector wages over the next four years, taking the total cost of the pay increase awarded last year to almost $18 billion.
This $3.8 billion will partly be recouped through the fee increases for part-pensioners and self-funded retirees that were announced last week as part of the funding reforms agreed to by the government and opposition.
