Dutton’s climate gamble carries domestic and global risks

But to go to the next election pledging to ditch the legally binding pledge to cut emissions 43 per cent from 2005 levels by 2030 because, “there’s no sense in signing up to targets you don’t have any prospect of achieving”, is an exercise laden with risk, both political and economic.
