Christian teachers have told parliament that religious institutions can and do sack staff because of their sexuality, warning proposed new laws will empower and encourage widespread discrimination in Australia.

A Senate inquiry into Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s religious freedom legislation heard from educators Karen Pack and Nathan Zamprogno on Friday. Both were let go from Christian institutions over their same-sex attraction.
