Detained Australian writer fears he will die in Chinese prison

Detained Australian writer Yang Hengjun fears he will be denied treatment and die in a Chinese prison after a 10cm cyst was found on his kidney, prompting supporters to urge the Albanese government demand he be released on medical parole.

The fresh revelations over Dr Yang’s plight come a fortnight before a potential meeting between Anthony Albanese and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the G20 summit in India, a precursor to the prime minister’s expected trip to Beijing this year.
