More than 30 defence projects will be either scaled back, delayed or scrapped to save $7.8 billion and help fund a $19 billion increase in spending over the next four years to deal with a dramatically changed threat environment for Australia.
The Defence Strategic Review, released on Monday by the Albanese government, however, declines to put a long-term price tag on the recommended overhaul needed to better integrate the army, Navy and Air Force and move the Australian Defence Force structure model away from that of a “bygone era”.
